#02-26 Gloria Steinem 1996 … Speech on Feminist Family Values
Gloria Steinem, a founder of Ms. Magazine, now 92 years old, is releasing a new memoir. Thirty years ago, she addressed the Feminist Family Values forum hosted by the Foundation for a Compassionate Society, in Austin, Texas. The talk is still highly relevant today. Among other points, she observed that the patriarchal nuclear family is a post-industrial phenomenon, and that gender stereotyping is an artificial construct; and she pointed out the link between abusive childhoods and abusive political leadership.
