#36-19 Spiritual Politics of Marta Benavides … Grassroots organizing vs oligarchy in El Salvador

Marta Benavides’s parents were an indigenous healer and a bureaucrat. She grew up Catholic, was recruited to the Baptists, and came to her own theology, which recognizes love as a force and rejects hierarchy. She talks about her life, about her country El Salvador, and about the global forces that can only be opposed by community and an understanding of nature.

Host(s): Frieda Werden
Featured Speakers/Guests: Marta Benavides is an ordained minister who worked with Oscar Romero in community organizing in El Salvador. She is also a biologist and ecologist, and a lifelong activist for peace in El Salvador and in the world.
