#34-20 UN Women Marks the 16 Days against Gender Violence … with a call to stop rape and an inter-generational feminist discussion

On the International Day Against Violence Against Women (Nov. 25), UN Women’s Executive Director delivered a scathing address about her desire to end rape. Also during the 16 Days (ending with World Human Rights Day December 10), UN Women Europe debuted a new podcast series called Generations Talk Gender.

Featured Speakers/Guests: Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka from South Africa is a United Nations Under-Secretary-General and the Executive Director of UN Women. Paris-based journalist Katy Lee hosts a podcast called The Europeans, as well as Generations Talk Gender. Sofia Scarlat, age 18, is founder and president of Girl Up Romania, a gender equality organization for teens. She is currently attending Stanford University. Lepa Mladjenovic, age 66, is a feminist and lesbian/gay activist in Serbia. She co-founded the SOS Helpline for women survivors of violence in Belgrade.
