#25- and #26-19 … Radio MAMA-FM in Uganda – parts 1 and 2

For the weeks leading up to World Feminist Radio Day (October 21), WINGS is sharing some of our most amazing shows about what feminist radio can be and do. These two programs – one from 2010 and one from 2017, document how and why the Uganda Media Women’s Association started a women’s community radio station, how it interacts with community, how it operates, its progression from rural to urban orientation, and what its guests and volunteers have to say about its effect.

Host(s): Frieda Werden (part 1) and Laila Ndagire (part 2)
Featured Speakers/Guests: Margaret Sentamu Masagazi, Executive Director, Uganda Media Women’s Association, and founder of the Radio Mama project. Catherine Apalat, Programs Manager; Josephine Babirye, woman leader Rubaga North; Diana Nayebare, radio guest and local businesswoman; Olivia Nakasujja, Assistant News Editor and Justine Nakamya the radio engineer Mama Fm; Betty Miiro, Sports Journalist; Hilda Namara, News Anchor; Robinah Nanfuka, Presenter Childrens Program; Stella Naluwuge, young student with a disability; Joan Nankya the fundraising officer of Mama Fm.
