Witchcraft Accusations, Violence and Torture of Women and Children was a parallel event at the 2015 UN Commission on the Status of Women. Organized by Lois Herman of the Women’s United Nations Rights Network, it included information from Nigeria, Papua-New Guinea, India, and other countries and regions – going into the rationales and motives behind such charges, and their sad results. address the global nature of witch accusations Panelists also addressed rights from treaties, declarations and laws that could mitigate this behaviour if enforced.
