{"id":1450,"date":"2025-12-22T15:57:48","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T15:57:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wingsradio.org\/wordpress\/?p=1450"},"modified":"2026-03-09T18:07:00","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T18:07:00","slug":"37-25-and-38-25-beyond-power-parts-1-and-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wingsradio.org\/wordpress\/?p=1450","title":{"rendered":"#37-25 and #38-25 Beyond Power, parts 1 and 2"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Marilyn French (1929 to 2009) was an American radical feminist author, most widely known for her first novel,&nbsp;<em>The Women&#8217;s Room<\/em>&nbsp;(1977).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her 1985 nonfiction work,&nbsp;<em>Beyond Power: Women, Men and Morals<\/em>, was the basis for her major address at the First World Summit on Women and the Many Dimensions of Power, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in June 1990.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In part 1 (WINGS #37-25), French described a pre-existing matrifocal human social organization that prioritized care for offspring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In part 2 (WINGS #38-25), French describes and decries the rise of a patriarchal and hierarchical system that prioritizes competition for personal accumulation and power-over, and prescribes male control of females. She excoriates this system for wrecking the viability of life on earth.
