Community media coverage from the Marrakech Climate Summit
November 7, 2016, the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change began. By day 2 it was clear that the US would not try to lead in climate mitigation and adaptation – that it was up to grassroots people and their allies. This program features the reporting of Laila Ndagire from community radio Mama FM in Uganda, who presented live and pre-produced content for the conference’s Climate Radio station.
Host(s): Grainne Delaney
Featured Speakers/Guests: Members of a US youth delegation to COP 22; Irina Bokova, UNESCO Director-General; Lakshmi Puri, UN Women Deputy Executive Director; Namata Rosette, a young farmer in Uganda, one of the “climate warriors” who is quietly trying to safeguard her farm and livelihood through adaption to the climate changes in her environment; Sonia Roschnik, international lead at the Sustainable Development Unit of the UK National Health Service – a founding group of Global Green and Healthy Hospitals, and a board member of Health Care Without Harm.
