#40-18 Youth to Youth Sexual Health Education

Youth Helping Youth in Kenya

The German World Population Fund (DSW) supports youth peer education on sexual health in several African countries. In Kenya, this included a pageant to crown a Mr. and Miss Y2Y.

Featured Speakers/Guests: Voices from the pageant in this program include the reigning Miss Youth to Youth, Maureen Chogom, who describes the uses of the menstrual cup; youth organizer and contestant Jackline Waweru, from Safe Community Youth Initiative in Kilifi County, describing youth outreach, club formation, and interventions with government; Juliana Mwaega, the officer in charge of Y2Y programs in Kenya; the new Miss Y2Y, Rose Akinyi, describing the bra she made out of condoms, and more; the first-ever Mr. Y2Y Michael Mgendi; and youth organizer Maimuna Siraj, who works with the PAD A DADA Initiative and describes their work to develop practical youth-friendly services and reach youths, families, and government.
